Dr. Matthew Endara is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon residing and
practicing in Columbia, Tennessee. Dr. Endara received his undergraduate degree in
Neurosciences from Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois. He then obtained his
medical degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago,
Illinois where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He
then went on to complete his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at
Georgetown University in Washington DC. The integrated plastic surgery training
program at Georgetown University is distinguished as one of the premier residency
programs in the country due to the breadth of experience and specialized instruction in
the fields of wound care under Dr. Christopher Attinger, microsurgical breast
reconstruction under Dr. Maurice Nahabedian, prosthetic based breast reconstruction
under Dr. Scott Spear, and hand surgery under Dr. James Higgins and the Union
Memorial Hospital Hand Surgery Department. Through training at this institution Dr.
Endara was especially well equipped to perform all aspects of reconstructive and
cosmetic operations.
During his residency Dr. Endara had been recognized by his superiors and peers for
outstanding performance earning him formal recognition through awards including
recognition for his outstanding performance in wound care and limb reconstruction as
well as being recognized at national meetings for his research and presentation skills.
Throughout his career Dr. Endara has authored and coauthored over 20 peer reviewed
publications and book chapters and has presented his research at several national
meetings covering a variety of topics in the field of plastic surgery including, wound
care, limb reconstruction, reconstructive breast surgery, peripheral nerve and headache
surgery, as well as aesthetic surgery of the face. His research on the relationship
between wound healing and diabetes garnered national media attention through stories
in the Wall Street Journal, Yahoo News and several additional website news
organizations.
While in practice in the south suburbs of Chicago Dr. Endara became one of the busiest
reconstructive breast surgeons in the area offering many procedures to the community
that are typically performed only in a university setting. Following his move to Middle
Tennessee Dr. Endara continues his work serving a variety of patient’s reconstructive
needs. He is a founding member of the Maury Regional Medical Center’s limb salvage
program and is medical director of the Maury Regional Medical Wound Center. Though
skilled and experienced in the entire specialty Dr. Endara is particularly interested in
breast reconstruction including through the use of microsurgical free tissue transfers,
limb salvage, abdominal wall reconstruction, body contouring, and cosmetic procedures
to rejuvenate the face and breasts. In addition to his busy surgical practice Dr. Endara
continues to present his work at national meetings in addition to being a Key Opinion
Leader and one of the most frequently requested speakers for the international wound
matrix corporation Kerecis LTD.
