Dr. Joseph Alpert is a distinguished cardiologist, educator, and leader in cardiovascular medicine. Currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Medicine and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, he holds board certifications in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. With an illustrious career, Dr. Alpert has held numerous prestigious roles, including Chairman of Medicine at the University of Arizona, staff cardiologist at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, and professor and chief of the section of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Massachusetts. Recognized for his exceptional teaching, he has received awards such as the Gifted Teacher of the Year by the American College of Cardiology and the Edward Rhodes Stitt Award for Outstanding Teaching. Dr. Alpert is a fellow of esteemed medical societies including the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the European Society of Cardiology.
